Comments
When visitors leave comments, we collect the data from the comment form, as well as the visitor's IP address and browser user agent to assist with spam detection.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to verify usage. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from uploaded images.
Cookies
When leaving a comment, you may opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last one year.
Visiting the login page sets a temporary cookie to check your browser's cookie acceptance. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
Logging in sets cookies to save login information and screen preferences:
- Login cookies: 2 days (extendable to 2 weeks with "Remember Me").
- Screen options cookies: 1 year.
- Logging out removes login cookies.
Publishing or editing an article saves an additional cookie (post ID only, expires in 1 day).
Embedded Content
Articles may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images). Interacting with embedded content behaves as if you visited the originating website, which may collect data, use cookies, or track your interactions.
Data Sharing
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Data Retention
- Comments and metadata are retained indefinitely to streamline follow-up approvals.
- Registered users' personal information is stored in their profiles. Users can view, edit, or delete their data anytime (excluding usernames). Website admins can also manage this data.
Your Rights
You can request an exported file of the personal data we hold or request data deletion, excluding information retained for legal or security reasons.
Data Processing
Visitor comments may be analyzed via automated spam detection services.
